Jude Bellingham praises Real Madrid debut but calls goal “lucky”

Jude Bellingham called his Real Madrid debut “special” and his goal “lucky” in a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.

The England international turned down numerous Premier League teams to join the Spanish giants this summer for €103m (£88m).

The 20-year-old midfielder left Borussia Dortmund in one of the biggest moves of the year.

Bellingham had a strong pre-season at Real Madrid and scored the second goal in his La Liga debut in the Basque Country.

On 36 minutes, his bouncing shot over Unai Simon doubled the lead.

Bellingham thought the goal was lucky and reflected on his Los Blancos debut.

Bellingham called the night unique. I like my new teammates and winning is essential.

We controlled, generated chances, and scored more on the counterattack in the second half.

‘I could score. It went in despite my hooking. I got lucky… It works!

Despite Liverpool and Manchester City’s pursuit, Bellingham said he will join Real Madrid this summer.
