Neymar discusses Lionel Messi’s ‘hell’ experience

Neymar, now of Al-Hilal, has described his time at PSG as ‘hell’. The flamboyant Brazilian told Globo about his friendship with Lionel Messi.

Despite the Brazil-Argentina rivalry, Neymar first expressed his joy at Messi’s 2022 World Cup win and praised his skills and dedication on the pitch. He also expressed sadness at Messi’s struggles in Paris.

I was glad for his year but sad since he lived on both sides of the coin. In recent years, he achieved great success with Argentina but struggled with PSG. Both he and I went through hell.”

Messi departs PSG

Neymar vehemently defended Messi and celebrated his friend’s World Cup win. “Messi left PSG in an undeserved manner, football-wise. Considering everything he represents and his passion, anybody who knows him knows he works hard. He was unfairly accused, in my opinion. Watching him win the World Cup warmed my heart. Football finally recognized him, as you said. Messi should have ended his career on this note.”

The two superstars left PSG this summer on different paths. Neymar will soon light up the Saudi Pro League with his skill, but he’s injured. Messi, who won the League Cup, will try to get David Beckham’s squad into the MLS playoffs.
