FIFA Bans Luis Rubiales for Three Years From Football

Former head of the Spanish Football Association Luis Rubiales has been banned by FIFA from all football-related activities for three years.

Jenni Hermoso said Rubiales kissed her on the lips during the trophy introduction on August 20, after Spain beat England in the World Cup final. Hermoso said she did not agree to the kiss.

Even though Rubiales tried to keep his job at first, he quit last month and was now punished for breaking article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

The former president of the Spanish Football Association (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, has been banned by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee from all football-related activities at the national and international levels for three years because they found that he broke article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

“Mr. Rubiales was provisionally suspended for 90 days because of what happened in the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup on August 20,

2023. This case is about those events. “The terms of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee’s ruling were sent to Mr. Rubiales today. He has 10 days to ask for a motivated ruling, which, if asked for, would then be posted on legal.fifa.com in line with the relevant parts of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. It is still possible to appeal the ruling to the FIFA Appeal Committee.

“FIFA once again promises to respect and protect everyone’s honor and to make sure that basic rules of good behavior are followed.”
