Villarreal insists that Barça must pay the full €54 million release clause in his contract to sign the 25-year-old. Foyth’s formal request may pressure the Yellow Submarine to accept a reduced sum, giving the Blaugrana hope of an agreement.
Now it’s up to the two clubs to restart talks and try to reach a compromise, although Barça’s financial predicament makes this tough. João Cancelo, Iván Fresneda, and Pablo Maffeo are Barcelona’s new targets.
The search for a right-back appears to dominate Barça’s summer transfer window’s final three weeks.
