Ronald Araujo’s thigh injury is confirmed by Barcelona

Barcelona have announced that Ronald Araujo will miss their encounter against Cadiz this weekend due to a thigh injury.

Araujo played the full 90 minutes of Barcelona’s 2023-24 opener against Getafe on Sunday, despite being a doubt.

The Uruguay international will miss his team’s second game of the season against Cadiz due to a new injury.

Ronald Araujo injured his left femoral biceps. He is out and his condition will influence his availability “Barcelona said Thursday afternoon.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the South American may miss a month owing to the damage.

Araujo requested a substitution in Barcelona’s final pre-season game against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, although it’s unclear if the latest ailment is related.

Should the 24-year-old miss a month, he will miss the team’s next three league matches against Cadiz, Villarreal, and Osasuna before the September international break.

Barcelona are also without Inigo Martinez, who joined from Athletic Bilbao this summer with a foot injury.

Araujo made only 31 appearances in all competitions last season due to an adductor injury in the first half before returning in January.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix this summer despite their financial woes.

Xavi’s team has only signed Oriol Romeu, Ilkay Gundogan, and Martinez this summer.

Their biggest departure, Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain, has increased their need for an attacker.

Barcelona will be without Raphinha this weekend against Cadiz owing to his red card against Getafe, which could allow Abde Ezzalzouli, Lamine Yamal, Ansu Fati, or Ferran Torres to start in an attacking role.
