Juventus will receive sell-on fee as former defender joins Al-Ahli

Football history will remember 2023 as the year Saudi Arabia became a sanctuary for some of the sport’s biggest stars.

Merih Demiral may join the expanding number of European players that play in the Saudi Pro League.

Calciomercato reports that the 25-year-old Atalanta defender will join Al-Ahli for 20 million euros.

Gian Piero Gasperini no longer uses the defender. He’s been training alone.

The Turk signed a three-year contract in the Middle East for 13 million euros per year.

Al-Ahli already has Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Edouard Mendy, and Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski is reportedly joining.

Juventus benefits from the 10% sell-on fee. €2 million.

The Turkiye defender joins Juventus in 2019 after a brief stint at Sassuolo. In his Turin debut, he tore his ACL.

He struggled to play under Andrea Pirlo the next season. Atalanta bought him from Juventus in 2021.
