Real Madrid is seeking a new goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois’ ACL injury.
Courtois needs surgery and will miss most of the next season, thus the club is looking for a successor.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have been offered David de Gea a free transfer.
De Gea, Madrid’s ex-lover
Real Madrid tried to sign De Gea from Manchester United several times.
The Spaniard was close to joining Real Madrid in 2015, replacing Keylor Navas.
Due to administrative difficulties, the operation failed and De Gea became a Manchester United icon.
After his contract ended earlier this summer, Real Madrid offered him as a backup for Courtois.
The 32-year-old earned the Premier League Golden Glove after preserving the most clean sheets (17), although he made some high-profile errors.
Real Madrid may want him for free.
Other options?
Real Madrid is also considering former goalkeeper Keylor Navas, Chelsea’s Bayern Munich, and Sevilla’s Bono.
Romano believes that an agent has already spoken to Los Blancos regarding Navas’ prospective return, as PSG no longer needs the goalkeeper.
However, Kepa is expected to join Bayern Munich.
