Chelsea close to £170m double deal with Moises Caicedo’s medical

Moises Caicedo will have a medical in London today before completing his £115million British record transfer to Chelsea.

Chelsea’s £100m upfront and £15m of future add-ons have fended off Liverpool’s interest in the 21-year-old midfielder.

Caicedo, an Ecuador international, signed an eight-year contract with the option of a ninth season and might debut at West Ham on Sunday.

Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia for £55m.

Liverpool were encouraged by Caicedo’s entourage to sign Chelsea, which angered Liverpool.

Brighton accepted Liverpool’s £110m offer, but Caicedo decided to join Chelsea instead.

Chelsea, who tied Liverpool 1-1 yesterday, will play Caicedo alongside £107m January acquisition Enzo Fernandez in midfield. Mauricio Pochettino will have the two most expensive British footballers in his club.

The Blues seek to sign Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise for £45m.

They have signed 18-year-old attacker Deivid Washington from Santos for £17m, who will join Strasbourg on loan from Todd Boehly.

After loaning Kepa Arrizabalaga to Real Madrid, Chelsea will begin their goalkeeper search.
