Pep Guardiola said that Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion are talking about a move for Marc Cucurella.
Since Oleksandr Zinchenko is going to Arsenal, the Premier League champions are now interested in left-back Cucurella.
City reportedly made Brighton an offer of £30 million for the Spanish left back, but Brighton turned it down because they want £50 million.
Guardiola, the manager of City, said he might not be able to get his countryman because of how much he wants. However, he said he has other options in that position.
He said: “We are having talks. If it doesn’t happen, we’ve alternatives… Cancelo, Josh Wilson-Esbrand is a young player with a lot of potential, and Nathan Ake can play there”.
Big-money signing Erling Haaland didn’t play in City’s 2-1 win over Club America in a friendly match last time, but Guardiola says the striker is ready to play against Bayern Munich on Saturday.
“He’ll be ready for the next game,” Guardiola said of the Norwegian player. “He had a few issues and niggles”. We’ll see. He’s only trained twice, and we didn’t want to take any chances. It’s such a long season. Last season, he had problems and tried to deal with them. We want to care for him and get him in shape”.
At Houston’s NRG Stadium, Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega, and Kalvin Phillips all played for the first time. Harland was on the bench but didn’t get to play.
