Lille finished 10th in Ligue 1 after winning in 2020-21 after Christophe Galtier’s departure.  Les Dogues began the new season with hope after hiring Paulo Fonseca as their new manager, and they beat newly-promoted Auxerre.

Benjamin Andre and Jonathan David put them up 2-0 in the first four minutes, and David scored again before Akim Zedadka made it 4-2. Gaetan Charbonnier’s consolation goal for the visitors was the only blemish on an excellent day.

Moses Simon gave Nantes the lead, but Ismaily’s second-half equaliser handed Les Dogues a point.  Lille host the team who won the title from them last season, managed by the manager who led them to the unexpected victory in 2021.

Christophe Galtier has found a new home in Paris after leaving Lille and Nice. Les Parisiens have swiftly taken to his leadership, defeating Nantes 4-0 in the Trophee des Champions final with goals from Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Sergio Ramos.

PSG started the league season with a 5-0 win at Clermont, with Neymar, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, and Messi scoring twice.  Galtier’s men head into Sunday’s trip on the back of another explosive effort, as they demolished Montpellier 5-2 last weekend. Neymar again starred with a brace after a Falaye Sacko own goal, Kylian Mbappe, and Renato Sanches stretched their lead.

The defending champions have scored 14 goals in three competitive games under their new manager after dismissing Mauricio Pochettino over the summer. Paris Saint-Germain will seek a third straight top-flight win on Sunday to maintain their advantage and hurt one of the predicted challengers.

Despite facing their biggest test to date, we still expect Paris Saint-Germain to come out on top. The team seems to be revitalised under Galtier, who seems to be unlocking all of their talents. Fonseca’s team should be able to give their opponents some trouble, but we predict that the visitors will end up dominating them and taking all three points back to the capital.
